Reid served our Country for 5 years as a United States Marine Corp Reservist and completed a tour of duty with the Georgia Army National Guard. Receiving an Honorable discharge from both branches of the service while attending college at Georgia Southern University and Georgia College. Entering into the insurance industry in 1985 as an agent for Independent Life and Accident Insurance Company, Reid graduated top of the class from the new agent school in Jacksonville, Florida. For 9 years he served as a successful sales and service representative. In 1994, Reid began his career in employee benefits and marketing supplemental insurance plans with Colonial Life and Accident Insurance Company. Reid developed a special talent for working with clients and focusing on compliance guidelines that govern cafeteria plans.

Reid received the LUTCF designation from the Life Underwriters Training Council now known as the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors. Successfully completing 300 designation credits, the LUTCF curriculum combines product focused education with hands on sales training to assist insurance advisors in a competitive industry. Reid also served as the Director of Human Resources and Business Development for a Georgia hospital during the late 1990’s. Accomplishments consisted of staffing a new skilled nursing unit with medical professionals and receiving one of the highest scores ever given by a JCAHO certification inspection. In 1998, Reid began doing business as Lake Oconee Consultants, now doing business as Lake Oconee Consulting Group. Establishing a relationship with other insurance professionals and respected carriers, Lake Oconee Consultant’s began to offer innovative solutions and custom employee benefit plans for today’s complex environment. Recently, Lake Oconee Consultant’s has been focused on the ACA or Affordable Care Act and compliance issues. Utilizing these new health care plan designs, Reid’s firm has been able to provide guidance and understanding during these historic changes in the Insurance Industry. Reid and his wife Tammy are both cancer survivors and have been married for 26 years. They have two wonderful daughters, Brooke and Courtney and reside in the beautiful Lake Oconee Area.
